Wall Pieces
These wall pieces are part of my efforts to bring attention to human-caused climate change. The two regions of the Earth that exhibit drastic climate change are deserts and the polar regions. Through experimentation with various clay forming techniques, such as stretching partially dried clay and fast drying liquid clay (slip), I can depict cracked dry earth and cracking ice. When I discovered blocks of porcelain cracked from storage outside in winter, I used the fractured porcelain to create a forbidding world of fractured ice inhabited by a lost polar bear in "Fractured"
